I was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1987. I received the Basic Engineering Degree in Computer Science from the University of Seville, Spain, in 2014.
My very first experience in webpages was in 2001. I created a simple webpage using the old friend Microsoft Frontpage. In that moment I thought that web development was an awesome thing. But I don’t even knew what development mean. Years later I started my Degree in Computer Science.
During my degree I majored in web development. In 2005 I create with a colleague our first blog using a CMS called PHP-Nuke. That was my first experience with web technologies like PHP or MySQL. I continued learning PHP on my own until I started to offer my services as a developer. A good friend introduced me to the people of the Phonetics Laboratory of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Seville. I started to collaborate there soon, at first as an IT guy and then as a developer. I design and implemented a perception test for a Ph.D thesis.
In 2009 I had to choose my Final Degree Project with a colleague. We both knew a lot about web development and we thought that would be a very easy project. For that reason, we looked for another different project. I wanted a challenge and he agreed with me. So we started to work in an incredible C++ project: a predictive text entry system for disable people using accelerometers. It was very hard, but totally worth it. We won two prizes and published three papers thanks to our job.
After that, in 2010 I started to work at the Electronics Technology Department in the School of Computer Engineering of the University of Seville. I learned a lot of things there. At first I started developing games for disabled people using PHP and accelerometers. Later, in 2011 I discovered the multi-agent system world. I had to continue a Java desktop application which allow the user control in a remote way a solar panels farm. Using the JADE framework we successfully created a robust system. This work brought to the department different publications and lectures.
In the middle of 2012 I started to work at the Software Factory of Telecontrol STM, in Seville. That company taught me to be a part of a team. In this job I learned about Agile Methodology, C#, ASP.NET MVC, Windows Azure, Drupal and more technologies.
After my first child was born in 2014, my wife and I decided to move abroad. I started looking motivating jobs and I found one in Iceland. So in January of 2015 we moved where I live now. Currently I’m working at Betware as a Software Developer specialized in Web Environments. Exciting times!
However, during my free time of all those years I combined my job with other freelance projects. For example to create a webcomics publication platform, to use WordPress to create a webpage for an online magazine, to develop a platform to manage students with Erasmus scholarships, and much more.
And now, what’s next?
